so recently i came across a youtube video of a creator who claimed to make 23k a month on pinterest
initially this sparked my interest as that is a substantial amount to claim.
as someone who uses pinterest on the daily to make vision boards and pull together aesthetics that i like, i found this quite intriguing, so i clicked.
because at the end of the day who doesnt want to make “f u money vision boarding?
that sounds like a dream come true.
so lets dive into my notes and see how this system works so we can copy in our own way.
the worse case scenario we get no where but we had fun doing it
best case we make something that significantly helps us live a life of comfort that we all want .
as many know pinterest is one of the easiest platforms for marketing today as its highly used as a “visual search engine” .
often many businesses and individuals forget among all the other platforms that exist today, that pinterest will drive your pins for months and even years the way most platforms do not.
you see most social media platforms focus on what goes viral today and will essentially bury other post that do not spark engagement as quickly or even supress content in order to keep people on their platform.
so you could have a killer post but it wont give your content the light of day until you post it almost 15 times or more to test its performance.
but because pinterest works as a visual search engine, someone can come onto your pins simply by typing highly optimized keywords such as “bedroom aesthetic” or “how to make seafood boil” and your pin will be spread on the same page of other pins similar to it.
ultimately giving it a chance to actually have impressions which helps support the engagement and saves if your pin satisfies someones taste.
lets dive into that keyword here… ‘taste’
because thats really what drives people to save your content.
for many reasons, it is often under utilized which makes competition scarce when posting updated visual trends.
im sure you heard this all before so lets get into the nitty gritty of how it works.
here is the loop:
Pinterest pin → blog post(monetization) → affiliate link(potential monetization).
2 layers
now if you use tools like substack your process might be more like
Pinterest pin → blog post(montization(with affiliate link (potential monetization )) → end cta (subscribe to my substack) (potential monetization)
3 layers
more bang for your buck
or at least thats what i would suggest so you can get leads/followers which can result in paid subscribers.
ll explain why in a moment, and how it works but lets walk through the details the creator broke down with how exactly she made $23,000 a month using her system.
if you want to watch the full vlog here it is below
Creator Reference
in the tutorial, the creator’s income does shift depending on the traffic from month to month.
she claims to make $23,000 a month with Pinterest affiliate marketing near the start of her journey and progresses to over $50,000 a month from the same affiliate marketing process overall.
she continues to go on about it rising once again to about $150,000 month.
her process includes various sources of income from digital product sales to sponsored posts and even YouTube ad revenue.
that changes things, because now its no longer just a blog, its also bringing in other social media platforms like Youtube.
this makes it a bit more realistic.
but it changes the game for how we go about it cause now we factor in that her personal youtube income is no longer faceless.
we can make our own substack/blog articles faceless with a little bit of automation,
thats a tutorial i will be posting on my substack for free
so make sure you subscribe to follow since its alot of information.
now we are talking 6-7 different layers working for her.
The big idea
you will be sending Pinterest traffic to a blog, not straight to an offer.
i know that sounds like crazy, but hear me out. you need your traffic to trust your opinion and expertise before even considering to sell them something.
most beginners will pin a product image and then directly link it to an affiliate offer.
that can definitely work but majority of the time people will just save it and forget about it. so even with something like halo sales where you have to drive people to your product you are promoting and hope and pray they buy it then and there or something at all… so that you can make your little commission, the majority of the time, there is a lack of urgency or emotion tied to the product your promoting.
this is where storytellers win the sale, and even if they dont win the sale…
they are still monetizing that traffic regardless using tools like ezoic, google adsense etc.
Wouldn’t it be nice to know that if an article you spent time writing and pouring your heart into it would at least make you 100 bucks just from people viewing it?
even if people don’t want to pay a monthly subscription right away to your substack or buy your affiliate link…
you get to monetize that traffic.
think about it.
this is why its useful to create your own blog and drive people from pinterest to your personal blog where you are guarenteed with some ad program to at least make a few bucks just from them viewing your content.
then if they want more, ask them to subscribe to your youtube or your substack or even both depending on your preferred form of podcast making.
“but i dont know how to create a website or work with word press.?”
honestly all you need to do is use an ai tool such as claude or codex ask it to build you your own website, integrate google tracking and any ad sense program you can get into ( i would start with google ad sense, since its free and no tier requirement to start.
just make sure your content is original. trust me you will want to make original articles from the start because the programs you will apply for once you meet certain tiers of monthly visits pay double and even tripple of what google ad sense pays but they have to be original content, not ai slop.
that doesn't mean you cant use ai to help you form outlines to stay organized.
please do, but make sure to rewrite in your own words.
then work your way up to other program requirements) and use ai tools to push your content to backend free services like vercel and buy a cheap domain.
all it takes is a prompt and it will design it along with a cta button for substack or youtube at the end of your articles.
your blog should act like a digital journal.
there are three useful reasons for creating helpful content your audience cares about.
for example lets say you want to blog about something thats highly converting on pinterest such as recipes,
your blog could be “ how to make authetic carribean style oxtail”
this sends them to your blog and weaves in spices you use in your recipe from say amazon or where ever you want to post affiliate links from so that
builds trust.
promotes your affiliate links
opens secondary income streams that your audience is looking to already buy.
your blog does not have to be long, in fact the shorter and focused it is, the better for your audience because most people looking up how to tutorials want easy instructions.
so without further or due let me finish this article off in 7 steps to build this system for yourself.
The whole system:
pin → blog post → affiliate link →substack.
here is the formula
pick your a niche you are passionate about writing about.
this is important for consistency
pick your audience you are targeting (ie. students/sahm/entrepreneurs)
Example :
Topic A + Topic B
a good title that is optimized might be something like
cheap meals + weight loss = how to make cheap meals for weight loss for postpartum mothers
- select a product that is aesthetically please and generate affiliate links.
this is where you can utilize Pinterest Trends for your niche,
note anywhere from 30 to 50 potential products that are already popular
key word ALREADY popular because then you know it already sells. this helps make sure that the affiliate links do their job.
- build a blog.
- start with google ad sense
- start pinning
- Post consistently. Aim for 2 to 3 pins a day and a few strong posts a week.
Reuse posts with fresh pins, spaced about two weeks apart.
Pick a niche and start.
thats literally the game.
